Let the planning begin....

Ever wonder how we tripped over this great opportunity? Let’s back track to earlier this year…
Chesapeake Harmony Chorus management team for 2015
Tancey Bosna, our chorus director, and Patti Platt, our chorus president, were discussing other fun things we could do that didn’t focus only on contest preparation. Together, they brainstormed a number of ideas, one of which is this trip. Tancey contacted TLC Tours – Leo Larivee, to be specific – and he put together our tour package. Check out the company website and you’ll see that, if you like barbershop singing, his is the company to book your tour: http://www.tlctours.com/.
Next, we needed to get the chorus members on board. Now, that wasn’t as difficult as you’d think.  Visiting Ireland is a long-held dream for many of us. For one of our members, Ireland is an annual pilgrimage! So, we jumped at the chance to sing overseas. The biggest problem would be to have all four voice parts covered. It turned out to be easier than we thought. The only big issue would be the cost and getting all the money in on time. To fill out the bus, we opened the trip to family and friends.  Husbands, sisters, daughters and good buddies all signed on to join us on our adventure. We all needed to meet and commiserate with each other. So, a dinner at Brian Boru`’s in Severna Park was in order. Food and drink, along with introductions, took up one evening in June.
As a group, the singers met to plan how we could defray some of the costs. In August, we held a Pie Social and split the take between the chorus general fund and Ireland trippers. Some of our diets are still recovering from an afternoon of homemade pie and ice cream. But we enjoyed entertaining our guests on a hot, Sunday afternoon. And the desserts and cool lemonade hit the spot!

Pies are ready for sale!
Step right up, buy your ticket and enjoy some summertime dessert

Our guests begin to arrive
Kammy's Girl Scouts help us serve our guests
Diane, Leone, Anna and Sara ready to serve and sing
Doing what we do best - sing
Guests enjoying a cool treat on a hot, summer afternoon
Socializing with our guests between song sets
Now it’s time to get the details in order… the small things… like packing… what to bring… where to put it when we pack… wondering if our luggage will see more of Europe than we will… I think there's a song parody here....
